Hens with hats!
My progress with my endpaper mitts. I learned to knit English style or "pick" so that I could hold both colors for this project. I am actually enjoying the technique.
This is some really cheap acrylic stuff I bought on the street in my neighborhood on the way to see Hunger Games. It is surprisingly soft but I have bu idea what I am going to do with it, I just couldn't pass it up. Awesome movie btw, true to the book for the most part, they did a good job imo.
I finally took a good pic of my Christmas Cowl. Thanks again to Morag for the gift of the yarn, and to Islay for buying me the pattern.
The last 2 pics are some swatches I did that got frogged. The green one is me still trying to get the right chevron without holes and with the slipped stitches. The search continues.

Hens with hats!

I had to do a late night run to Lion Brand Studio because, as I was knitting on the subway this morning my US size 0 needle decided to divorse itself of its cable losing all my stitches in the process.
Hey take a look at their knitted store window art.

Some oldies but goodies pieces were busted out for our trek to the parade. Do u see the picture where they are all wearing wool sweaters? They were all intricate aran sweaters. I felt like they were celebrating knitting. The blue sweater is an interesting design but I didn't like the color combo, but I love the texture.
Yea, for green beer and, even better green cider! I <3 nyc!

I whipped up this little cap pretty fast.
No pattern, I just CO 160 & then did about 10 rows, and increased 4 over next 10 rows then after about 10 more rows I started typical decreases every other row. I like how it came out but not as slouchy as I originally pictured. About halfway through I decided on a pattern I like & this cap will end up being the lining. More on that once I start it. I wanted to try a chevron pattern & I found one in my book that I liked, however I didn't get instructions, just picture. Then I tried to find what it was called a "Slip Chevron", and was not able to find it. All the chevron patterns I looked at seemed to have holes like lace pattern and mine seems to be more solid. If anyone can tell me anything about this picture & the pattern that would be great!

Art first :
Subway art installation closeup
The Inquiry part :
Does anybody know know what the mat design is called or how to make it? I tried to research but I didn't come up with anything useful. I just kept getting rag rug instructions & this looks like a different technique.

So now that I finished my Owls, I am ready to start another project and not sure what to do. I tried the raspberry stitch with the slubby yarn I got from Habu but I think its not a good match.
This is the silk herringbone on Dawn, I liked it with the blue coat.
Hunger Games : March 29th. The world is watching. I'm ready, are you?
I never could have finished this sweater so fast if I hadn't been home all last week.
I held 2 strands together & used about 15-1/2 balls of yarn. Which is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 yds, and about 750 yds held dbl. I followed the pattern for size 5 for body then size 3 for arms & size 4 for owls & neck area. I think I could have gone for a size 4 in the body but this way its a little more roomy.
I also used a size smaller needle than pattern suggested as I think I am a loose knitter.
Now all I have to do is shop for buttons.
Plus I got approval from Lexa, she gave me squinty eyes when I asked how I looked & I choose to translate that into a positive review, not an apathetic one.
